LostAshanti Parables: Family of The Murdered

There was once a family, who had suffered for generations at the hands of a family of murderers.

The family of the murdered knew not why the murdering family took such pleasure in murdering them. All explanation was lost at there lips. They knew  only that this was the way this family behaved, and could not find any good reason to justify it.

One day a member of the murdering family, who had not murdered, came among the family of the murdered. He requested a place among them. He sought to impressed upon them that despite there family history, he could be trusted, as he had not murdered.

The family of the murdered consulted. They decided that they would not grant this member of the murdering family a place among them. The sorrow within their family had run to deep to make this possible, as it would cause their mothers to much pain.

The member of the murdering family became angry at this.

“I am not a murderer.” He demanded “Can you not see I have not murdered like the rest of my family. Why do you deny me a place among you? Why do you treat me as though I am same as the rest of my family?” On and on he went with his admonishment, until some of the members of the family of the murdered began to feel ashamed.

“It is true.” They said. “Why should we deny him? He has not murdered. Why should we judge him as the rest of his family?”  A general chorus of the same began to rise among members of the family of the murdered. When this chorus reached a crescendo, the Elder Mama of the family rose and commanded silence.

“My children be not foolish.” She said “His anger is directed against you for he commands we provide a place among us for him.” She paused, then said:

“Has he yet commanded his family to stop murdering?”
